Many talented and dedicated persons have contributed to the development of this website. Special thanks to Kimberly Prosper whose intellect and skills greatly improved the quality. Thanks to Reference Librarian Celia Daniels for sharing Ms. Prosper.
Appreciation is also extended to new alumns who served as interns for Alumni Relations at HULS--Shayla Mulzac and Radiah Shabazz.
Veteran alumns Shellece-Jeanette Earls, Monique Martin, Beverly Hyman Reynolds, and fellow colleagues of the Howard University Library System (HULS) and the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center (MSRC) all contributed their time, knowledge and expertise.
I would like to thank each and every one of you! I welcome feedback and suggestions for improving the site.

Join the Friends of the Howard University Libraries System and the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center
Friends come together for Author Talks, Book Signings, Academic Programs, Community Service, Theater Outings, and Scholarship Fundraising. They also develop the financial resources needed to improve facilities and resources for Founders Library and the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center.
From the Library's humble beginning in 1867, the Library's philosophy has remained unchanged: to help people learn. The Friends are dedicated to the Library and the Archives' mission to provide the highest standards in service and resources that support the University's mission for excellence in learning and teaching, scholarship, and service.
Friends are alumni, students, faculty and staff of Howard University and others in the community who share a love for knowledge and a desire to promote the vital role the University Libraries and the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center play in the academic life of the University and in society. Friends also provide financial support for resources and services that benefit learners in the University community and at-large.

H O M E C O M I N G
|by Langston Hughes (1921)|
When the night winds whistle through the trees and blow the crisp brown leaves a-crackling down,
When the autumn moon is big and yellow-orange and round,
When old Jack Frost is sparkling on the ground,
It’s Thanksgiving Time!
When the pantry jars are full of mince-meat and the shelves are laden with sweet spices for a cake,
When the butcher man sends up a turkey nice and fat to bake,
When the stores are crammed with everything ingenious cooks can make,
It’s Thanksgiving Time!
When the gales of coming winter outside your window howl,
When the air is sharp and cheery so it drives away your scowl,
When one’s appetite craves turkey and will have no other fowl,
It’s Thanksgiving Time!
