Welcome Home Alumni

Special thanks to Jim Pleasant (HU Physical Facilities Management) and Qaddafi Sabree (HU Libraries System) for helping to bring the memorable sound of the Westminister Chimes from the clock tower of the Founders Library on campus to Friends, alumni and visitors!

Join the Friends of the Howard University Libraries System and the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center

Friends come together for Author Talks, Book Signings, Academic Programs, Community Service, Theater Outings, and Scholarship Fundraising.  They also develop the financial resources needed to improve facilities and resources for Founders Library and the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center.

From the Library's humble beginning in 1867, the Library's philosophy has remained unchanged:  to help people learn. The Friends are dedicated to the Library and the Archives' mission to provide the highest standards in service and resources that support the University's mission for excellence in learning and teaching, scholarship, and service.

Friends are alumni, students, faculty and staff of Howard University and others in the community who share a love for knowledge and a desire to promote the vital role the University Libraries and the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center play in the academic life of the University and in society.  Friends also provide financial support for resources and services that benefit learners in the University community and at-large.
