Faculty Leadership Development Center, Office of the Provost

The Office of Faculty Development was established in 2015 to enhance and advance the development of programs for faculty throughout the University and to encourage faculty engagement and interdisciplinary collaborations. The Office of Faculty Development serves as the hub for faculty development programs, mentorship initiatives, and other activities for the 14 Schools and Colleges of the University. Programs and activities sponsored by the Office support new faculty, junior faculty, mid-career faculty, part-time faculty, and senior faculty in career development, research, scholarship , publishing, leadership development, and professional satisfaction. Programs offered by the Office of Faculty Development include the Junior Faculty Writing and Creative Works Summer Academy, the Junior Faculty Forum, the Chair Leadership Academy, the New Faculty Orientation held at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters, and the Faculty Leadership Institute (coming in 2023). Under the leadership of Associate Provost Okianer Christian Dark, the Office of Faculty Development positively impacts the scholarly pursuits of Howard University’s esteemed faculty.

Electronic Arts Studio, College of Fine Arts

Students will learning and have the opportunity to create works using the entirely of the Adobe Creative Cloud platform, Maya, Blender, Cinemia 4D, and more.  The curriculum combines the fundamentals of visual arts: drawing, painting, illustration, and two-dimensional and three-dimensional design. Photography and video, with intensive applied computer technology and software techniques as applied to visual communications and design. Coursework is designed to incorporate prerequisite visual arts courses to prepare students to be competitive in the visual arts and computer-aided art and design fields.

The Karsh STEM Scholars Program is Howard University’s premier scholarship program for high-achieving students of science, technology, engineering and mathematics disciplines, offering full scholarships for undergraduate studies and support for successful matriculation through graduate and professional studies. The Karsh STEM Scholars Program is committed to increasing the number of underrepresented minorities who earn a Ph.D., or combined M.D.-Ph.D. in STEM-related disciplines.

University Testing Center, Office of Student Services

The Office of Disability Support Services’ (DSS) Testing Center is available to proctor exams for students with testing accommodations.  Additionally, if a professor is unable to implement an accommodation due to a scheduling conflict or space limitations, the professor may request that DSS proctor the exam.
